Reasons Why You Will Always Love London

There is so much to love about London, and some of your own reasons for adoring the UK capital may be intensely personal. These are some of the top reasons why people return to the city again and again…

The Royal palaces

All the most senior Royals live in London, and their homes are every bit as impressive as you might expect. From the incredible, lavish Buckingham Palace to the Georgian-era Clarence House and the elegantly-designed Kensington Palace, these distinctive homes are the London residences of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles & the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge, respectively.

As a result of this rich Royal legacy, there’re also plentiful sightings of the Royals themselves – whether at an official event or simply heading en route to another major event.

The beautiful parks

When most people think of London, they tend to think of the urbanised areas it represents. However, there’s much more to the city than meets the eye. London is also home to a wide variety of stunning green spaces and parks, which are beloved by both locals and visitors alike. Particularly scenic are the numerous Royal Parks dotted throughout London.

Some of our favourites include Regent’s Park, Primrose Hill and Hyde Park, each of which provide unique spots for taking in stunning views and experiencing the UK capital in a new and unexpected way. During your own stay at Marble Arch Hotel London, be sure to take a trip to some of these beautiful spaces and you’ll soon be utterly in awe of the UK capital.

The incredible food

The culinary reputation of London continues to grow and grow. British cuisine has come a long way, and it isn’t just traditional Brit dishes which you can try on your next stay in the city. As an inherently international city, London also offers you food from around the globe.

This delicious food can be found everywhere from the many Michelin star restaurants in the city, to a variety of fantastic food stalls and street food joints, each of which offer something a little off the beaten track to eager fans and followers. If you’d prefer to keep it simple, you’ll still be able to find a Sunday lunch or a full English breakfast, but it’s always nice to have options!

It’s not as pricey as you expect

Lots of people assume that doing anything in London is going to break the bank. Depending on what you want to do while you’re here, that might be true. However, with a little careful planning you can easily enjoy plenty of the city’s top attractions and activities – often without paying anything at all.

Numerous museums and art galleries offer entrance free of charge, and even when paying there’s normally ways to secure a healthy discount on everything from your accommodation to your dining to your transport. The city isn’t just designed for the mega-rich – so you can still enjoy yourself on a budget.

The culture

Culture in London is one of the many reasons why people visit time and again. You can do so much here within the space of just a day: visiting museums, exploring historic landmarks, and even treating yourself at a luxury spa in London.

You don’t even need to really seek the cultural sights out, they are all around you. This helps to create a truly special experience which is sure to introduce you to a world of cultural delights and attractions.

The great nightlife

London’s nightlife is famous around the world, and its a reputation which has been well-earned. There’s a huge number of trendy bars and clubs for you to discover on your visit. These spaces are usually pretty incredible, no matter whether you are just looking for a cosy pub to have a few drinks in or would prefer to visit the latest hot new cocktail bar.

It seems it’s almost every week when a new venue opens up – ensuring that there will always be somewhere new to discover on your next trip to London.

The fantastic music

London has a thriving music scene, and has produced some of the best bands in the world! Even bands from other cities in the UK feel drawn to the UK capital, whether that’s to record at Abbey Road Studios or simply to soak up the creative atmosphere.

As a result, there’s plenty of places you can hear live music when you’re next in the city. The 02 Arena is popular with some of the biggest acts of the era, while local bars and pubs also have regular live music evenings.

In addition, London is home to one of the best music festivals of the summer – the British Summer Time Festival, hosted in Hyde Park.

London’s love of sport

The city is immensely sport-loving, with everything from football stadiums to cricket grounds to world-renowned tennis courts. Lord’s, Wimbledon, the World Cup – all of these events are hugely important to Londoners.

In addition, the 2012 Olympic Games has had a lasting impact on the city, in the form of both the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (where you can try out some sports for yourself) and the increased emphasis on healthy hobbies.

You don’t have to become an Olympic athlete, but you can certainly go for a swim, or play a game of tennis, football or cricket. If you are more of a spectator, then there’re also plenty of sports bars where you can watch the action unfold while staying at the best hotel rooms in London.

The world-class theatre

The theatre scene in London really has no rival, with the West End fostering some of the best talent around the globe and the city’s theatres giving you the chance to see a great show any day of the week.

Whether you’re a fan of musicals, drama or everything in-between, a trip to the theatre is just one more reason to love London.
